Journey to 100+ Pound Loss
So... here I am. Again. Its 2020 and I'm trying this weight loss things again. I'm determined that I will not be this size forever as it isn't healthy for me. Here's to a new year of traveling this journey.
The Plan
As my main health goal for this year is to get to a healthy BMI I need a plan. That plan is "keto" as well as continuing to work towards a healthy self by taking my required medications/treatments (not weight loss related, we'll chat about it at a later date) and getting back into the gym slowly. Eventually I will add in intermittent fasting and possibly try some alternative methods to up my metabolism. What do you suggest I research?
What is "Keto"?
Simply put, it is a diet that is high in fat, moderate in protein and very low in carbohydrate. That low number of carbs is typically less than 20 grams of net carbohydrates per day. Net carbs are calculated by removing fiber and sugar alcohol grams from total carbohydrates so if you have an item with 10 g of carbs 3 g of fiber and 1 g of sugar alcohol you would calculate net carbs by: 10-3-1=6 g of net carbs.
I find that staying low carb helps me to feel my best (and I've tried a lot of diets over the years) while also getting results that will help me to reach my goals. Keto specifically has helped my focus, satiety, symptom management of my medical condition and generally just made me feel amazing while also helping me to lose weight. My doctor is aware of my choice and is supportive of it but every person is different and we should all consult our doctors prior to a lifestyle change like this.

What are your health & wellness goals for this year?
2018 saw me hit my heaviest weight ever, 260 pounds! I decided enough was enough and I needed to buckle down and get to a healthy weight. I did awesome for a good chunk of the year, losing about 40 pounds. Unfortunately life dealt me a few blows and I went off keto due to stress eating and stayed off due to depression when my Oma was sick and after she passed. I ended 2018 with a net 20 pound loss. In the last few days of 2018 I knew I needed to shake myself out of the rut I had fallen into and get back on track to the goal that I had been crushing just a few months before. Here are videos from 2019's part of the journey.
