I had been wanting to purchase a house for several years but with the market being really hot in Dallas is was almost impossible for a single person with a bucket full of student loans (read: me) to find. The conclusion was that I wouldn't be able to get a home of my own without a major overhaul of my financial situation. This led me down the rabbit hole of financial YouTubers, blogs, books, podcasts and more until my head was quite honestly spinning with all the conflicting information. The overarching theme was to get out of debt as well as keep a balanced budget where every dollar has a job. To help make my house dreams come true I decided that I needed to really kick my debt payoff plan into high gear... so I got a second job, started budgeting and gave it my all. I have since purchased a home (9/28/2018) but am moving cross-country soon so will be looking for a new home shortly and am working on financial independence in the long term.
